O K what did I just buy? I was at WalMart because I was in town and no sense not checking for .22 LR and Caps while I am next door at Lowe's anyway, and the only caps they had were Winchester #11 Magnums. Nothing about their use on the packaging other than noting they were better for igniting substitutes and you know how useful the lady at the walmart sporting goods counter can be about gun stuff......

Anyhow I figure I can use them on a caplock rifle with some Pyrodex if nothing else.

What I wanted to know was do these work OK on revolvers that use other brands of #11 caps without the word Magnum in them? Do they fragment more than "normal" caps?

Any thing I should be aware of like higher pressures or anything?

Tax and all they were 7.83 @ 100 so ;akig anything else I pickd up a single can to try or at least have.

Having seen a rather minimal selection of caps at my local Cabelas, much less the exotic "magnum" variety, I wouldnt know from first hand experience, but I would venture to say a bit more lead styphanate primer, and perhaps more fragments. From my mad scientist experiments using small pistol and large magnum pistol primers to spark my cb shooters in the abscence of percussion caps, there so much primer in the large magnum primer cup with the anvil removed, that the nickle plated brass cup hardly fits over the nipple.
While I know that is not a one to one comparison to percussion caps, it is an observation.

They are the same as CCI magnum #11 caps and can be used on anything they will fit on. They tend to seat short on an ROA nipple but can be bottomed out with a popsicle stick or judicious pushing with the tripped hammer.

They are made for easier igniting of the subs like Shockey Gold and 777. Since I don't use subs except for Blackhorn 209, I can't vouch for their efficacy on that point.
Only Remington #10s will fit my ROA nipples.

I have used them on all my revolvers and they work fine, yes even the ROAs. As for them being more powerful, I did not notice a bigger bang, no fragmenting or anything special.

I've used the "magnum" winchester caps on my revolvers. I'm not sure why they're labeled "magnum", don't work any better than any other in my experience, or any worse. That's kinda a rip off price, though. But, then, I've NEVER seen caps at a Walmart. Must be nice. Not much of anything within 80 miles of me for caps, all the gun shops are out. I have a stash, though, and have learned how to use the plastic toy caps that ARE available.

The CCI/Winchester magnum caps are probably about as powerful as current production Remington caps ("40% hotter!"). If you use subs and don't have very direct ignition (long path through a drum or whatever) they're helpful.

They work especially well for the harder to ignite subs. They are made by CCI. If they fit, use them without any worries.

We have a marketing promotion going on at work that earns prize points for a bunch of junk I never wanted, but as I was looking through the "Sporting Goods" items... Low and Behold! They had Winchester Magnum Percussion Caps listed. I placed my order using all my remaining points for 4 tins, and didn't even have to pay a HazMat Charge since all shipping costs are covered as part of the promotion. Too bad I "bought" Mama a toaster oven, 'cuz I could have gotten about 20 more tins of caps. I haven't tried any yet but I know they are CCI and will do their job.
