OK. All this talk about toy caps jolted a dim pocket of my brain. I have read in the past year that toy caps contain corrosive elements. If you use these be sure to remove the nipples and clean the cylinder and hammer well of you may have a rusty area there in a short while.

PS: Black powder is the real stuff. It is vastly superior to subs when everything is taken into consideration. You are cheating yourself if you are using Pyrodex, etc.

Selling black powder is virtually illegal considering all the hassles and one cannot find it. I've not geared up to make it, yet, so I guess I'll keep "cheating myself".

And, yeah, I know I can order it, but with hazmat fees. I'm not ruling that out in the future, though, especially as ffg is easier to light in sidelock rifles.

BTW, toy caps are corrosive? Did black and the subs suddenly become non-corrosive? Clean is clean, right?
