#11 Primers + Pellets

Has anyone tried using pellet type powder in an inline with #11 magnum primers? I noticed the pellet packages say use 209 primers.

I went to the range this week with a couple guys trying pellets and #11 caps...they each had multiple misfires.

I haven't tried it but if I did it would be with a small booster charge of loose powder under the pellet.

Yep, they had to put loose power under the nipple to get them to fire about half the time.

If i recall correctly,( and don't accuse me of EVER usin nothing but the real deal ),
Hodgdon reccommends, even tho the pellets have a small powder charge already built in to one end of the pellets,that you are to use a 5gr charge of real powder twixt the pellet and cap/primer to ignite the pellets.

I dunno. The whole thing to me jist negates the whole aspect of muzzle loader.

I agree,just wondering 'cause I've never tried it. I think I'll stick with powder.
