Howdy neighbor! What match is he planning to attend? Might just meet up there.
Folding stocks really shine when you have a real need to store or transport a shotgun in a compact place/package. They are much better to shoot with the stock extended. Unfortunately, they aren't usually all that good to shoot with the stock extended, either.
You'll notice that serious competitors aren't running folding stocks. They may use stocks with pistol grips, but they'll have a full buttstock.
As for shooting with a PGO or folded folding stock, you can do a search as that's been discussed over and over (and over again) here. The best technique is to hold the pistol grip with your strong hand and tuck that in against the side of your chest -- about nipple height. Turn your upper body like a turret to aim.
Shooting it that way won't be difficult or painful, but HITTING much with it at more than a few paces probably will be. It can be done, but it takes serious practice to be much good.
Shotgun Moderator Dave McCracken has written the web's definitive dissertation on the best practices for PGO shooting:

If he wants to go and just have fun, it will be ok. He'll probably have decided by the end of the first stage what his next upgrade will be
