12 gauge velocity

Can anyone point me to data/information that can help me assess the effective range for different shot velocities? Seems that when I'm hunting sandhills they tend to fly near the edge of my range and I'm looking for ways to increase. I'm finding BB and BBB shot for $13/box @1400fps and $25/box @1500 fps. Just wondering if I really gain much with the additional 100fps.

Choke determines pattern density at distance - 100 fps at the muzzle means nothing at great distance

Pattern is what you want over velocity.

Thanks for the replies. Doesn't sound like the velocity is very significant in this case. I appreciate the importance of pattern, but often do not have the opportunity to pattern the available ammo before a hunt. Just wondering when all other things being equal, how much of a difference the velocity makes on effective range.
