I loaded the 147 grain Berry with 3.5 Grain of universal. Very Sub-sonic, and most importantly, very accurate. Under a inch at 7-10 yards. IMPRESSIVE and will be the load for my CZ P07 with Banish 45

Let’s try 124 gain Berry! I have like 3,000 of those bad boys. Here what I got:

124 Berry RN
Mix brass
focaccia SPP (good stuff when seated)
Universal (4.6 - 4.7 - & 4.8)

Looking for max Sub-Sonic speed. Ear test & Accurate test. Should be:

4.6 1030fps
4.7 1070fps
4.8 1100fps

focaccia SPP
I prefer it with hummus, Greek olives and melted feta.
Yum, I love focaccia bread dipped in olive oil and salt/pepper ... Making me hungry but I think Fiocchi primers will do a better job of igniting powder charge. :)

Now wife won't let me buy store bought baked goods so I have to bake everything from rolls, buns to pizza crust.

Not to get off topic (more than the bread........). How did you break another chrono?

Very interested in the test results also! 147's are hard to find at times so this would be a nice option.
shot it! and it the Magneto one too! I’m not putting another dollar into a chono that has to get near my muzzle

I’ll shoot some more 147 today, the group is AMAZING 😻

you guys are the best wake call! 😂 better than seattle coffee

NICE LOOKING BREAD too!
Thanks ... Wife will only drink Lavazza espresso for retirement (She does need "industrial grade" coffee to wake up) ... and she tells me she is "low maintenance". (BTW, we seriously considered moving to Port Angeles/Sequim area for retirement)

If you get a chrono that links to smartphone/tablet (I use Caldwell with phonejack cable), you can put angled metal deflector plate in front to protect the chrono.

No… this is my 2nd chrono. Going to do that new one from Garmin! Looks COOL!

I asked the guys at the indoor range about setting up my Chrony and one of the new guys suggested since I’m already using a T/C for testing why not just get a MagnetoSpeed? I’ve heard good and bad about them and am curious HOW one would shoot the device? It mounts under the barrel, right?

I like my green Chrony well enough and use it with gross disregard for the device’s safety. It’s my third and and last.

The Sled type radar units are NOT good for an indoor range. Indoor ranges are GREAT for load testing. Such are the dichotomies of life. :)

BTW: Love the food pix! :)

The Garmin is well worth it imo. Compact, very easy to set up and use. And it works at the indoor range i belong to.
A group in the lane two positions from me asked me to please stop shooting my RSBH so they could chronograph their 9mm SS loads. My .44Mag was registering on their Lab Radar. LOL!!! They were lightfast loads: a 255gr. LSWC over 24gr. Of IMR 4227. A paltry 1250fps load for small game. :)

I obliged but it was just too funny IMO. That was my first sighting of a Lab Radar. They’re smaller than I had imagined.

I have not seen a Garmin in the wild, yet. It might be better.

Kindda my fault, I mounted it to a pistol. And my homemade mount FAILED!

To be honest i wasn't shooting next to anyone. Was just pleased it worked inside, and while shooting at paper target. Others have said it doesn't pick up shooters next to them at indoor ranges, but there must be multiple differing situations.

124 gain Berry RN ... Universal ... 4.6 - 4.7 - 4.8

Just got back from the range… NO GO! ... Gun hated it!

Let’s do, 4.4 - 4.2 - 4.0
With regular Berry's plated bullets, I had good results using lead load data as using above lead/mid level jacketed load data caused accuracy to deteriorate - https://reloadingdata.speer.com/downloads/speer/reloading-pdfs/handgun/9mm_Luger_125.pdf
  • 9mm 125 gr Lead RN Universal COL 1.130" Start 3.9 gr (899 fps) - Max 4.3 gr (991 fps)
  • 9mm 124 gr TMJ RN Universal COL 1.135" Start 4.5 gr (993 fps) - Max 5.0 gr (1089 fps)
Hodgdon load data - https://hodgdonreloading.com/rldc/
  • 9mm 125 gr Lead CN Universal COL 1.125" Start 3.8 gr (993 fps) - Max 4.3 gr (1096 fps)
  • 9mm 124 gr Berry's HBRN Universal COL 1.150" Start 3.8 gr (904 fps) - Max 4.4 gr (1045 fps)
  • 9mm 125 gr Sierra FMJ Universal COL 1.090" Start 4.3 gr (1031 fps) - Max 4.9 gr (1118 fps)

Not sure what OAL you are using but I typically use 1.130"-1.135" for 124 gr FMJ/plated RN bullets. I think you will like 4.3 gr charge around published OAL to produce 130 power factor.

1.150 and I think the right combo will be in the 4.0 to 4.4 range. Loudness & accuracy

Out of curiosity, why Is it a range f distances? Is a fixed distance not an option where you shoot? Or is there a purposeful reason? 7yds for velocity; 10 yds for accuracy, etc.?

I’m not knocking the range - I do a lot of function testing at 25’ and velocity testing at 12’ - just curious why it’s not a specific distance. Are you at an improvised shooting area?

The formal ranges where I shoot won’t allow people on the firing line without hearing protection unless special arrangements are made in advance. Basically have to rent the entire range - and pay the fees for every lane - for a fixed period of time.. That gets pricey real quick!

I have 2 ranges I go to.

Indoor is a 20 yard range with a motor target. I do 7 and 15 yards there.

Outdoor range is fixed and traditional Hot/Cold range session. 10yard, 20 yard and 35 yard. also a 200 yard rifle

Is there a reason I’m doing what I’m doing,,, you know the answer to that… NOPE! 😂

But it’s all about looking cool and looking like a Double Agent Spy, or maybe a low key Mercenary look! and when I’m popping 1” groups at 7 yards with a suppressor P07!! and how handsomely I aged… Mission accomplished

LOL!! I don’t like to assume so I ask questions.

You do you, bro! :D

Most 124 grain will be subsonic unless you’re pushing loads at or near max. You started with near max load and the highest charge according to Hodgdons online data. Run 4.4 and you’ll be fine. Unless you’re shooting quarter sized groups at 10 yards, you won’t notice any accuracy difference.
