I have shot a lot of berry's 124g RN over 3.9g Win 231 in my Shield. Load is mild and has done great.

I just bought a Sig P290rs. Went to run the above load through it and thought the pistol was a dud, FTE and stovepipes almost every shot! Then I ran 50r of cheap factory loads and two magazines of HST standard pressure with zero issues.

Obviously I need to up my powder charge for the Sig. How much higher than the current 3.9g should I try?

Better off loading a couple of test loads. Load 5 each at 4.1 and 4.3. gr. You should be there by 4.3gr. 4.4gr is max for a 124gr jacket load according to 2 of my published data sources.

You may want to make sure your OAL is correct too for the new gun. Load a few dummy rounds and test for function. With multiple guns of the same caliber you either have to separates the loads of find one that works in all. It's normally less trouble finding one that works for all. Segregating loads can be a chore.

My favorite 9mm load in my P89 is 4.3 gn W231 under Berry's 124 gn RN or FP. Accurate, flawless function and comfortable recoil. Bonus, predictable brass throw, 3 ft to my 4 o'clock. When I first started playing with W231, I was experiencing stovepipes until over 4 gn. So I agree your charge may be a bit light. Also agree with Blue to verify your chamber fit.
