Who makes 2 3/4" 12GA 00 buckshot with hardened, plated shot? I am looking for full power loads, not low recoil.

Give Federal Premium a look, it might meet your specifications. I think the factory data calls for 1325 FPS muzzle velocity on that, and it's a 9-pellet 00 load. It's also loaded in a FliteControl wad that generally does wonders for patterns.

Hornady TAP FPD (red hull) has unplated shot but it is hardened. It too is loaded in the FliteControl wad, it's an 8-pellet 00 load at 1600 FPS per the factory. It's what I'm now using, it works well in a variety of guns. Note there is a reduced recoil (blue hull) load of Hornady TAP as well.

Thanks for the tips guys. This is for a Benelli M3. It patterns well with Federal Tactical 00 buck but that is not quite potent enough for reliable cycling especially if the gun is against a barrier.

This is for a Benelli M3.

Why didn't you say so. :D

I'm dead serious with what I am about to share.

Had a couple of guys using that gun to trim tree limbs, that was their job with a Timber company. Anywho, some loads not cycling and we went to pattern the guns [they had never patterned a gun before].

I happen to like the old plain Fed 2 3/4" 9 pellet 00 buck. Seems to pattern for my guns the best, easy to get, and across the board of many guns - does well to "real well".

That 'old' loading patterned the best and run the guns. Not saying it will in yours, just try a 5 pack or two, for pattern and function.

"We can get these at the fillin' station we have lunch at, this is too easy". - they remarked.

"Life is like that sometimes..."

Yep, dead serious, they get paid to shoot tree limbs. They now use different guns , still using the Fed 9 pellet 00 buck in the replacment guns.

How far you lead a Elm limb?
Tad more than a "Hikker"
How far is that?
'Bout 4 "hikker - nuts"

Another vote for Federal Premium. I'm a big fan of the copper plated 00 buckshot. It patterns well, cycles reliably in the auto's i've tried it in (Browning A-5, Remington 11-87, and Spas-12).

If you want full power load, the Federal Premium comes in 3 different varieties for 2-3/4".... 9-pellet, copper plated, 1325fps (stock # P154 00)... 12-pellet, copper plated, 1280fps (stock # P156 00)... and 9-pellet, copper plated, 1325fps, with flight control wad (stock # PFC154 00) for tighter patterns at longer ranges. The first type is what I use... lucky for me, Wally Wolrd has them on sale right now for$2.50 per box of five.

Federal also has the "Tactical" series in a fullpower load, but it's still pretty uncommon to find it in mass quantities for sale to non-LE. Remington has nickel plated buckshot, but I've never tried it. It's too hard to find.

Thanks for the additional info. Would have mentioned the gun model sooner if I thought it would make a difference. Most people don't know what a M3 is.

I'll give your suggestions a try. I am particularly interested in the Federal with Flite Control. I have heard good things about this shell. I am looking for the tightest possible pattern out to 25yds. Hans Vang won't do his magic on this gun; says the barrel is too thin and I don't really want to give up the hardchrome anyway.

95% of the people around here know what a M3 is and more than a few have shot that model. Wicked gun, I wish I had one.
