Sounds like "...the police acted stupidly...," but you might think the Beard Club for Breasts guys would have checked with the police first.

Gosh, Portland is odd...

No, Portland is a liberal bastion. I'm not surprised someone got their panties all twisted when they saw OMG HE'S GOT A GUN!

OTOH, with all that's gone on lately I think it was pretty dumb to be carrying an AR or AK openly on a bridge. That's just asking for trouble, legal or not.

Depends on how its being carried. Regardless, "it might make someone uncomfortable" isn't a reason not to carry. If you are doing so in a dignified manner, and you are polite with the police officers, there should be no problem.

Rosa Parks was asking for trouble. Doesn't mean she didn't have a good idea.

In principle I understand what you are saying.

However it might be pretty dumb to say certain things also, but you cannot be legally arrested and have it hold up in court. So why is it ok to exercise your 1st amendments rights, but not your 2nd amendments rights?

I am all for breast cancer awareness, but this is really OT. If the guys had checked with local police, all would be well.
