13 year old saves his Mom and brother

Hmmmm, the house was occupied by Mom and the 2 kids. The kid grabs Dad's shotgun...but where was dad? I hope that wasn't him trying to sneak in...

As a new member of the MMM and a Brady supporter I disagree with what was done. There are a number of things that we should create laws against:

1) The shotgun was loaded and the kids could get to it. They may have been hurt, or worse, killed.

2) They had a shotgun in the house

3) The victim was the poor man that tried to find shelter

4) They should have just given the poor victim what he wanted

The mother and father should be sent to prison for life, for allowing a 13yo to have access to that shotgun and for shooting at the victim who only wanted shelter in the house!

At the LEAST ,he needs a time out:D
Seriously...way to go kid....I hope mine is as quick thinking....although she's a blonde......so.....maybe not.:D
"the home sustained a broken window"....."and the perp. sustained stained boxers!"

Lubbock... as in Lubbock Texas?
Whereas I can see the validity to manwithoutahome's MMM and Brady positioning of keeping the children safe from eeeeeeevil assault shotgun/rifles/semi-auto or revolving cylinder handguns... it's Texas...
Whaddyagonnado?
Those Texian people actually think they've got a RIGHT to their lives and safety.
I'll bet ol' manwithoutahome gives them a big fat "F" for failing in their gun-control education ;) he'd probably also suggest that DAD take him out and work on his aim and follow-through with a shotgun.
Maybe McCracken can offer a pointer or two at hitting a moving target or suggest a smaller size for a younger smoothbore fanatic. Bet it'd be an 870.

From the story:
Police did not discover any blood trails leading from the residence or any reports of gunshot injuries at the local hospital.
Does anyone offer combat shotgun classes for 13 year olds? ;)

This sounds very familiar.
Wasn't there a similar story about a month ago, where a kid fired a gun at the intruder? I think the other story it was a handgun. Anyone remember this one?

manwithoutahome, *sigh* :(

Learn to look at the bright side of things...:)

1) They had a shotgun in the house.

2) The shotgun was loaded and the kids could get to it. Bad guys could be hurt, or better, killed.

"A 13-year-old resident grabbed his father's shotgun and entered the room. He fired a shot at the intruder who took off running from the scene."

3) The "victim" was already in the house, and hadn't bothered asking if it was okay.

4) They taught a potentially dangerous threat a lesson, thus saving the family from victimization (is that even a word? :uhoh: )

If there was anything that went wrong, it was the fact that the kid missed with a shotgun. ;)

And even though I might be preaching to the choir here, I'm posting this as well:

I agree with man without a home, the education this child had was inadequate. He should be punished, and his mom and dad should be punished too. To be able to miss with a shotgun inside a home is inexcuseable. What was the problem here, did the kid not know how to reload fast enough? Or did mom not give him any extra ammo?

Man with out a home? IF you had a home would you hang a sign out front that says "come in and sleep in my house and eat my food, and feel free to take a tv with you when you go, this house is a gun free, criminal safety zone?

manwithoutahome????? May I see your permit to speak please?

Atta boy!

Just wondering, though... what was on the other side of that window? What size load? How much wood trim needs repair/paint? ;)

BTW... on the right side of that news page appears
CFI's Now Hiring Company up to .45 4 Teams Up to .53 4 O/O up .93 4 per Mile!Al...
They looking for teams with .45 cal firearms? DO they make a .53? .93?
Enquiring minds want to know.

7th St. in Oakland is pretty bad territory. The houses are nice, small Victorians and if those folks got together, rehabilitated their homes and sold it, they could make bucks.

Anyway, kudos to the kid who fought like a man.

Actually, I am highly critical of the mother and the boy. After all, she clearly hadn't trained him well enough because he missed ;)

Maybe the kid was firing a warning shot and the second one (if it was needed) would have been centre of mass.

Smart kid in my view .... he got his point across, educated a bad guy and doesn't now have to live with the knowledge that at the age of 13 he ended another person's life (while protecting himself and 2 others).

Gee, and I was just hoping manwithoutahome was just forgetful with his [sarcasm]-[/sarcasm] tags...:what:

When I was in high school, we had some guy come and speak to us about "doing something with your life, and not becoming a thief".

He pulled up his shirt, and showed us a couple hundred scares he said he sustained when breaking into someone's house who shot him with... BIRDSHOT!! :what: Said some of the birdshot was not removeable, and so he set off metal detectors. Doctor said he was lucky to live through it.

Getting shot by a shotgun sucks. Totally ruins your day...

Oh so I suppose you support criminals that break into homes, rape and murder the home owners. By all means, lets let the criminals do whatever they want to us and heaven forbid we defend ourselve. No, no we have to become victims because the MMM and brady bill supporters say we have to. I say that young man exercised his rights to defend his home and protected his family. If that shotgun wasn't in that house and accessible to that young man the cops might have had to use 3 body bags that night. If I lived near that 13 yr old I would take him out to a bike shop and tell him to pick out whatever bike he wanted, then to the gun range for some target practice. Please read the 2 Amendment again this time ask someone to help you with the big words.

manwithoutahome:

If you feel the need to buddy up with all of the meth monkeys, crackheads and other assorted criminal trash, go right on ahead. That's your choice.
However, the rest of us have the choice to defend our homes and families, just as the 13 year old did.

IMO the shootee was not the victim in this incident. He had no right to enter another persons home, uninvited, just because he was seeking shelter. He might have learned a lesson also. NOT all people are sheep.
Some still believe in their god given right to protect themselves and those dear to them.

Maybe the kids dad needs to take him to a trap shoot. It just might give him an advantage on those fast movers.:D

Manwithoutahome made a good post. It was obviously intended to ridicule the people whose position he pretended to take. However, this is no criticism of those who were taken in by him. The fact is that, as stupid as the things he wrote were, they are actually said with a straight face, in public and private, by PEOPLE WHO HAVE DRIVER'S LICENSES!

I am perhaps doing a wrong thing, but one of the things that I often convey to people who say such things is that their words are shockingly stupid and unacceptable. "Liberal" idiots have advanced their agendas partly by trying to make normal American values socially unacceptable. I try to do the same thing with their perverted views. More likely, I just make an unpleasant situation, and make myself socially unacceptable to them, but those are good things, also. Any unpleasantness which a person experiences as a result of speaking stupidity is at least partly a good thing, as it tends towards conditioning him not to speak that way. And my becoming unacceptable to such people makes it even easier for me to avoid them.

:neener: :neener: :neener:

Vic303 and some of the others had it right, all that was said "tongue in cheek" :D

I was just playing  advocate.

I will have to agree that the parents should be punished for not teaching the kid to aim! I sentence them to one weekend a month for nothing but teaching the boy how to hit his target.
