Does anyone know why the Appleseed that was close to the Dallas/Ft Worth area has moved way south?

I've asked a few times on the appleseed forum and no one has ever answered.

Sweet!

Thanks for posting this info. I looked into this before but I don't remember anything being near me. Now, I'm registered for the Canon City shoot! The cost is is really pretty reasonable too.

Now to start planning what rifle/s to take and what not... I guess I'd better start reading over on the Appleseed forum.

It seems to make since to me, most everything is already in Dallas and where it is now is central to Houston/Austin/San Antonio/Dallas.

Maybe I will go up to it.

El Tejon,

Signing up for the Freedom shoot? It's just a straight ride down 231.
Freedom is my home range and I'm rather partial to it, we can put 80 folks on the line at once so bring your friends and family!

If you can't make it on the 19th-20th, there is a shoot in Wabash, IN June 14-15.

I believe that Indiana could have over 160 people on Appleseed firing lines on this weekend!

WE NEED HELP GETTING FOLKS TO THE FIRING LINES IN INDIANA.

The Lexington location is very low in the pre-registration numbers.

That location can easily handle over 50 shooters!

Wow, think about IN having nearly 200 shooters on firing lines in one weekend.....makes me a little giddy:what::D

....Hmmmm

I'm really interested.
What all do we need to attend?

You need a rifle (loaners might be available?) and 400 rounds of ammo, and a learning attitude!

You will find that semi-auto, mag fed, iron sighted rifles will be the best, but you will learn a bunch reguardless of what you bring. We see bolt and tube fed rifles all the time.

22s are great, and both the FL shoots will be 25 meter events, with a slim chance of some actual distance shooting in Myakka City. So the 22 will be King at both of these shoots.

Here are some links with some information:

Go to http://www.appleseedinfo.org in the upper left corner, there is a pull down tab titled "Appleseed". There you will find "What to Bring" and "How to Prepare".

Go to post #4 for lots of answers to your questions.http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=277920

http://hcgc.us/APPLESEED/ Good, useful information here too.

No doubt, you will learn a good bit and meet some great people!

These events are starting to pick up a bit, good to see.

Still plenty of room at most of the shoots.

Tonopah, AZ is getting full, so pre-registration is a must, there and some other locations, and it saves you $10 to pre-register. That pays for your 22 ammo, if that is what you are shooting.

This will be a fun time to be on the Appleseed firing lines.:D

Only 5 days left to get yourself, kids and friends registered for these special Appleseed events!

Don't miss out on this opportunity to be on the firing line with over 500 other shooters, nation wide, and on the same day that our Founding Fathers stood the line for our Liberties!

See you there!

I'm only 77 miles from the on in Texas...

And I have a rifle being held by a gunshop....

I'll see if I can scrape together the money to do this, haha. It sounds fun. My gun has a scope, but I can use the irons on it because the scope is set really high (Saiga).

edit to add,

BLAST!!! I knew I should have brought one of my Finnish mosins back with me! 400 rounds is a drop in the bucket for me with those guns.

I'd love to come to the Lexington one but unfortunately I have class on Saturday. :(

Daniel,

Freedom's one heck of a lot closer to Purdue than Lexington!

Why don't you come down for Sunday only??? Some other folks are and we'll be doing catch up drills in the morning. Come on down and camp out Saturday night if you want.

If not, check the schedule for Wabash later this summer (June 14-15).

JoeLad,

There is one tentatively scheduled for September in late September in the Holland, PA area. Note I say tentatively. I have no details.

However, if you want to step up and find us a land owner/ gun club that will host a shoot sooner than that, let me know and I will help you get it done!
All we need is a safe back stop and about 30m of flat ground. We provide the materials and instruction.

Appleseed is all about doing, not talking. So make your decision, help us out and get involved.

We have one in Allmans, PA, September 6-7.

It should be on the public schedule very soon, once a couple of details are worked out.

We can always use more locations in PA, that is for sure!

PM me with an email address and I will send you a Host Application and some information on hosting an Appleseed. It is fun and easy!

Here's my new (but all metal) Wallyworld 10/22 transformed a little into a Liberty Training Rifle. I added Tech-Sights, a recoil buffer, extended mag release, some QD swivels on an old but refinished stock and a of course a shooting sling.

I also have the recommended Garand sling but it seems too short and I just don't like it as much. I'll be bringing it with me though and seeking advice from the instructors.

I took the pic with the 25 round mag just 'cause it looks cool... I have plenty of 10 round factory mags as well.

I haven't had a chance to try it out with the new sights yet, and It's snowing like heck in Denver right now. I'll be taking it to the indoor range in the morning to get her sighted in, then I just need a little glove oil on the leather sling and I'm ready for the Appleseed shoot this weekend.

Guys this is the best value for your buck in the rifle world. What they say works learn the basics at 25 yards and they work at 400.
