Had anyone ever used this size bullet 142 gr for a 9mm? A fellow shooter makes them the weigh out at 142 gr and dia is .356. Not 147 gr but 142 gr

It is not uncommon for a 147 grain bullet mold to make a lighter bullet if a hard alloy is used.

Use 147 data for a similar bullet shape and you will be fine.

Could be the alloy he is using... More lighter antimony and tin = lighter bullets than the nominal 147 grain weight they are rated to cast, could also be the mold is just a little "small". This can go the other way too. Many molds are rated for a particular alloy such as Lyman #2; use wheel weights which have a higher % of lead, and the bullets cast "heavy".

If you want hard wheel weight bullets, water quench them. They will remain the same weight, but will be almost twice as hard compared to air cooled.
