Hey all,
I want to try the 155 amax in my bolt .30-06 rem700. I usually use heavier amax's and I like their accuracy in this rifle, also they are fairly economical.

Does anyone have a match accurate load for this combo out to 600yrds?

I also have some rl-17 and H4350, if that might be better?

Thank you for your help.

Varget, RL-17 (a bit slower), and 4350 (a bit slower, still) is a good mix, since, starting with Varget they are each progressively and incrementally, slower. All three are right in the speed range that should be ideal with 155 gr bullets in the .30-06. My guess (actually, it was a mathematical calculation) is RL-17 will be the porridge Goldilocks likes the best.

Max for the 155 seems to be between 57 and 58 of rl-17. I think I'll start around 56.
Any one have any pet loads with rl-17 and 155 amax?

Looks like I have found a winner combo for my rifle. Used 50.7grns. of Varget (listed max) under a 155AMAX HBN coated with a oal of 3.395.
3/4" at 100 avg. velocity of around 2720 from my 22" Rem 700 barrel.
I was hoping for more speed as the listed velocity was around 2900. I tried seating deeper got to around 2760 at a oal of 3.350.

Any Ideas?

What's your load source if you don't mind sharing?

Varget to the tune of 49 to 50 grs (hodgdon max) shooting 150g Speer SPBT's produces jaw droppingly good groups from my 22" ruger m77 all weather. But like you velocity is a tad low with 49.0 g producing mid 2700fps speeds.

But dangit with such good accuracy it's hard to be upset with the velocity.

I got that from the Hodgdon's reload data center. and worked up from there. They are using sierra 155's and I don't know how long the test barrel is. Also, the oal they are using is 3.225".

That, and the fact that I am using HBN could I know is a factor in the low velocity numbers. I did try going up to 51 grains with no pressure but the group opened up a bit. I could go hotter. but I am getting sweet SD's in the single digits for a five round sample. I just wished for more velocity to give better trajectory and wind numbers to 600yrds.

Ive got a match comming up and don't have any time to test more. I'll just try that out and see what happens.

Add 4 inches to your barrel?

LOL. yup I need to rebarrel..
I waiting on finishing up an other rifle project first though.:D

Little update. I used a load of 50.7 of varget PMC primer LC68 brass oal 3.350".
At 600 yards my vertical was within a MOA with this load. Wind and my shooting is another matter all together. :what:
Overall I thought this load shot great.
