Factory cartridges or cast bullets?

I have not found any differance in factory 158 grain LSWCHP loaded rounds.

Are you asking about cast bullets supplied for reloading?

The Winchester and Federal versions use hardcast LSWCHP bullets that probably will not expand from a snubby (but will from a 4" barrel). Remington's version uses dead soft lead SWCHP bullets, which probably will expand from a snubby. That, so far as I know, is the main difference. Check Stephen Camp's website, www.hipowersandhandguns.net (.com??).

Cordially, Jack

I like the Hornady bullets a little better than the Speer bullets.

BTW, this thread really should have been posted in the Reloading forum.

As for ammo, and I buy my CC/HD as commercial ammo. I like the softer Remington #R38S12 158gr LSWCHP +P rounds for carry, and the harder lead Georgia Arms #G38E rounds for practice, as they are far less expensive. They both range from 837-860 fps from my 1.88" 642 to my 2" 10. My own reloads are for the range.

Merry Christmas to all!
