A friend gave me the subject bullets to try in my 7mm08. I have imr 3031,4350,4064 and H380 on hand. which one or 2 of these powders would be best suited for this bullet in 7mm08? and what would the starting load be?

180 g bullets are not listed in my manuals the manuals stop at 175g??

IMR 4350 would be my choice of those you listed. You're going to need some barrel length and twist to get those to fly decent IMO.

Just loaded the Berger 180 Hunting/VLD in my 7mm-08. Trying 39.5g of IMR4064 first. This load should push that bullet at 2500fps. That speed will remain supersonic at over 1000 yards. Also going to try Reloader 17 with those also.

Savage 110 (Long Action) 24" Savage Tactical Barrel
180 Berger
39.5 IMR4064
Winchester Brass
Federal 210 Primer

i loaded up the 180 g bergers with IMR 4350, in one gr increments from 40 to 43g, I was unimpressed until i shot the 43g load-- one hole at 100yds off sand bags with my 7mm08 TC venture, note i shot this target today 12/16/2011 not on 17th as indicated on target, i suppose i was a little fired up when i saw that one hole group!! i used CCI 200 LR primers.

this was my personal best group with anything and definitely the best group out of this factory rifle. I'll try to post a photo of the target if i can decipher how to do it.

That's a great group and I'm guessing it's just one target. Now the proof of the load is three different 5 shot groups, and then you can log it as an accuracy load, if they are all good groups.
Keep us posted.

I plan to shoot several more groups with that load to test its repeatability. it was a very calm no wind day,
