I'm really interested in trying some Berger Bullets match or hunting and would like to load 180 gr. My question is that the 180 gr bullets in 7mm are rated for a barrel twist of 1:9". My Remington 700 has a twist of 1:9.25", would I be ok to use that bullet in my barrel, I'm not sure if the quarter of an inch would make a difference or if 1:9.25" is 1:9" twist? Just need to know before I buy 'em on friday, thanx.

I have nothing to go on here experience-wise, and I understand why you're asking - they ain't cheap! However, if they recommend a 1:9, then they can't be that bad with a 1:9.25. We're talking a difference of less than 3% here. If it were me, I'd go for it, but like I said, I've nothing to go on really. I'm sure somebody will pop in here with real data and a real answer.

Of course, now we'll want a range report!:) Good luck!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, but I would like a lil more knowledge before I buy them, thanx for the response

I think you would get better results with 168 or 162 grain bullets in your Model 700 Remmy or at least mine does.

Yeah, I'm getting the 168 gr VLD Bergers, they're rated for a 1:10" barrels or faster, I'm definately getting those, but I was just wondering about the 180 gr VLD, just wanted to try em out.

I called Berger today to find out if my barrel to work. They said because I'm shooting a 7mm Rem Mag, it'll work because the calibre will have a fast enough velocity.

So, needless to say I made a trip down to Bruno Shooter Supply and bought some 168 gr Hunting VLD and 180 gr Hunting VLD, can't wait to shoot these bad boys.

Going to load some with RL 22, RL 17 and IMR 4831, I'm getting excited just talking about it.

I have a chrony, so I'll post the velocities, the groupings, and the standard deviation of the velocities with each gr charge.
