Sometime about 1860, I read that someone working for the army tested the 1842 Percussion Musket with 110 grains of "musket powder" and a 411 grain ball, and found it gave a muzzle velocity of 1,500 fps. Before that the standard load was a 390 grain ball and 120 grains of powder for the same velocity.
The '42 Springfield has a 42 inch barrel, so how fast would that ball be coming out of the 26 inch Musketoon?
