I don't see how a brass framed 1851 can be made "more authentic-looking". It would be like painting my Corolla black and claiming it is an authentic 1916 Model T.
Supposedly the southern states copied the design and used brass receivers, and plain cylinders. Pietta calls it their Confederate model.
Perhaps a better term is "aged"
I once asked the question about removing a manufacturer's information, on the "Legal" forum. The advice I got is that it is illegal to remove or modify the manufacturer's name and address, the model number or name, or the serial number.
