I bought more junk.

I'd sorta like to know who made it, and when it was made? Also, I can't find any info on one with a 4.898" or 4 7/8" round barrel.

I would like to find parts, new or used, to put in back into firing condition.
But, apparently, the barrel length is going to make things difficult.

I think the pictures pretty well tell the story. Except, maybe, it has a very light trigger. Dangerously light. I'll have to change that.
But, just in case...
Top of Barrel: NAVY ARMS CO. RIDGEFIELD N.J.
Left Side of Barrel: CALIBRE .44 [that is how it is spelled on the barrel]
Bottom of Barrel: BLACK POWDER ONLY
Right Side of Barrel: MADE IN ITALY
The cylinder has 764 stamped on it.
I did the best I could, in the pictures, with the proof marks.

Sure could use some help with locating parts.

Thanks for any help.

It's a Replica Arms/Navy Arms import made in 1976. Are there any markings on the backstrap? Uberti made some of the replica Arms guns; but, Pietta was a supplier to Navy Arms. At first blush, it looks like a Pietta; but................. Do you have anything to compare it to?

Well, I went ahead and disassembled the gun. I found no other markings on the gun, other than 899 on the left side of the trigger guard, where it fits into the grip. That same number is, also, on the inside of the grip.

I was hoping, maybe, the mark on the front left side of the frame would tell a story.

Do you have any ideas on where I may find parts? I know it ain't worth fixin, but I'd rather make this one shoot than buy a new one. I been that way since I was a kid, I'd rather make a piece of junk work like new than buy new. Or, maybe, its cause I ain't never been able to afford new.

All I have to compare it to is a brand new, still in the box, Remington New Army .44 by Pietta. All steel, except for trigger guard. It has an eight inch barrel.

That mark on the front left side of the frame is, as Fingers has already figured out, the Replica Arms logo. There is a story there, about how they were an independent importer that was eventually bought out by Navy Arms and transitioned everything over to them over a period of about 3 years. Unfortunately it doesn't say anything definitive about your particular gun. As Fingers said, Replica sold mostly Uberti-made guns, but others as well, and Navy Arms sold a lot of Pietta-made guns. Since your gun has both logos, it was certainly part of the transition period, which only serves to muddy the water a bit.:banghead:

As far as parts go try Dixie Gun Works. They sell parts that can fit both and they even have a limited supply of original parts.

What you have is a .44 cal. version of a Confederate Griswold & Gunnison revolver (originals were .36 cal) originally made in Griswoldville, Georgia. About 3700 guns were made before the factory was destroyed in November, 1864 by Union troops. Yours was made in 1976. The gripshape resembles a Pietta but that proves nothing. Check this link to the Dixie Catalog.

Mule,

If you can find someone with a '51 Navy made by Uberti, Pietta, ASM, and ASP or some spare parts, that would be willing to let you try some parts, the loading lever and trigger, bolt, and trigger/bolt screws should narrow down the manufacturer. Uberti loading lever rammers and trigger bolt screws are larger than Pietta. ASM levers are same size as Uberti; but the screws are smaller.

Mule,

You are welcome and I hope my info helps a little. I got into black powder 30 years ago, more to connect with history that to simply shoot, so I try to learn about the history of the guns as much as how to use them.

Buddy, I may not shoot them much, but, I, would also, like to know about them. Counting this one, I have 6. I've never shot one. But, 5 of them are shootable.
None are valuable, but they are mine. 4 of them are reproductions, but the .32S&W and the .38S&W are the real thang.
Philadelphia Derringer by Jukar, I've had for 20 years.
Tower Flintlock Pistol made in Japan
Iver Johnson .32S&W BP Revolver[no external hammer]
1858 Remington .44 Revolver by Pietta NIB
Harrington & Richardson .38S&W BP Revolver[no external hammer]
and, this gun;
.44 cal. version of a Confederate Griswold & Gunnison revolver

Mule,

I don't shoot regularly but I do enjoy it very much and shoot as often as possible. I also do my own casting. The first gun I bought was a Navy Arms 1858 Remington with target sights. I now try to get reproductions that are as historically accurate as possible. For example, my 1851 navy is a .36 cal not a .44. Here is a list of the rest my blackpowder guns. I have shot all of them.

Handguns
CVA Philadelphia Derringer (gave to one of my my sons) .45 cal
CVA Kentucky Pistol (gave to one of my my sons) .45 cal
Traditions Trapper Flintlock .50 cal
CVA Hawken .50 cal
Lyman Great Plains Pistol .54 cal
CVA 1863 Remington Pocket Pistol (brass frame)
Uberti 1847 Colt Walker
Pietta 1858 Remington
Pietta 1851 Colt Navy
Pietta 1860 Colt Army
Ruger Old Army (stainless with adjustable sights)

Rifles
Cabela's Hawken .50 cal
Lyman Great Plains .54 cal
