That's a beauty!!!! I like the Uberti a little more because of the dove-tailed front sight but man-oh-live is that pretty.

yes
Laser Pseudo "Engraving"
But I don't think most folks would expect real hand engraving at the $200 price point

I don't like the plastic "Ivory" grips on some of the revolvers at all , but the laser "Engraving" doesn't bother me.

It looks quite shallow...but still just more nooks and crannies for fowling and rust to thrive in.

:banghead:

They just can't seem to get their advertising off of the side of the barrel.

No Piettas for me.... not until they fix that.

I think they know their signboards are disgusting. They don't put them on the LeMats or the Smith Carbines. They could probably materially improve their sales if they hid it under the loading lever or something.
Anyway the Cabelas Remington is pretty nice looking. That etching could just about pass for English scroll

Willie, just take it as Pietta's challenge for you to buy one and remove their unwanted marks in your shop.

First thing I've done with every new vehicle I've owned is to remove all the dealer's advertising.

Why couldn't they put that stuff beneath the loading lever?

Oh well, I don't think any crook looking down the barrel will see it (the Pietta stamping) so I bought one. I have so many now that it's a chore to decide which to shoot to have a hoot!:neener:

If you want a tack driver buy a Ruger Old Army, but if you want a historically correct tack driver, buy a Remmy.

One time, I outshot both of my ROAs with my Pietta 1860 Colt, but most of the time my 1858 Remington shoots the best. If it doesn't rain tomorrow I'll be trying out the Fathers' Day 1858 engraved from Cabelas.

I got one at $229+no tax+free shipping and it looks very nice. They are now listed for $299. Somebody on another forum said the $229 price was an error so that's why they're now at $299. Looked at the 'laser engraving' with a 10x magnifier. I am about as far as you can be from being an authority on laser engraving, but for some reason I can't account for, it just makes me suspicious about it. For one thing, why does the engraved areas have a 'golden' look to it? If you're engraving steel, why don't the engraved areas look white or some kind of silvery color?

All's I'm sayin is that a steel 1858 with an extra cylinder is worth $229 to me.

I agree; it's well worth the $229. I just expected "more quality" in the engraving. It's too pretty to shoot so I ordered an 1858 New Army .44 with a 5 1/2 inch barrel to shoot. I noticed Cabela's also shows an 1860 pistol that is engraved.

I find little to complain about with Pietta's markings. If the stainless engraved 1858 was on sale, I'd be all over it.

The laser engraved Pietta's are nice sixguns. No, it will never replace hand-cut engraving but for their very modest price, they are a nice upgrade. I don't know why anyone would expect more at the price.

You could outfit a possie with Pietta's for what I invested in my engraved Open Top.

I got in at the $229.99 price with free shipping  but since Cabelas broke ground about 5 miles from here for their first store in Georgia I did get tagged for sale taxes. :cuss: Still a great buy on a great looking gun. Thanks for the heads up Malachi.
