185gr Rainier HP and 231 - Need Load Info

I've been having trouble locating load data for the .45 185g Rainier hollow point using W231. I know you should use data for lead bullets but I don't seem to have much in my current load books for this.

I would have bought 230g bullets which I can find data on, but current bullet availability caused me to get what I could for now.

Use lead data and work up from there.

The above chart doesn't list a lead or plated 185g bullet but judging from the 180g data of 5.3 - 6.3g, I'd expect the 185g to be slightly less. So maybe a range of 5.0 to 6.0?

Does that sound about right?

ZXD9...Before Rainier changed their web site they stated that you should use jacketed data and not to exceed 1200 fps. However I know of someone that exceeds 1400 fps without adverse problems. The rest of the story is in the PMs I sent you as requested.

I load Berry's 185gr FP's with 5.6gr of 231 for a mild target load.

OK, thanks. It's looking like 5.5 - 5.9 of W231 is a good range to work with.
