Ok i have and 1860 Army Armi San Marco. The nipples lately are just about had it. I have never really paid any attention to them but. So i ordered a set from VTI Gun Parts. Ordered on line. Then recieved a call saying they are out and do not expect to ever recieve any as ASM is out of business. So once you get a call like that it really wakes you up. I was out yesterday when they called me so when i got home i pulled out the revolvers. What i immediately found out is the ASM nipples on the 1860 are smaller in size than my others. In fact they took a #10 cap. However its the threads that are smaller.

So where do i get a set of nipples for this. And does anybody know what size they are. I could not find my thread pitch tool to figure out the pitch and size but they are smaller thatn the other nipples.

Scrat:

is the threads the same as the ones that come on that '51 Navy you've got from me?

If so I'll look in my gear, I'm sure I have 1 or 2 spare nipples for that revolver & I can size them up here at work & get ya at least pointed in the right dirrection on a replacement.

Yep same exact size as the 1851. i guess they are smaller than uberti and pietta. im thinking these must be a 5 mm not a 6

I get mine from Deer Creek Products, P.O. Box 246, Waldron Indiana 46182 Their phone number is765-525-6181. You will be talking to a real live person. Its a Mom and Pop operation apparently. I think she told me that they bought all of CVAs parts when they quit selling pistols. Prices are great. Screws that cost me three dollars are a buck and a half there.

Pietta's 1851 takes the metric M6X0.75, while Ubertis takes the SAE 12x28, which is smaller. In inches, the M6x0.75 has a major thread diameter of 0.236 with 33.9 threads per inch. The SAE 12x28 major thread diameter is 0.216 with 28 threads per inch. Here's a chart of all the different nipple threads I've encountered in the last 30 years:

Notice that the metric M5.5X0.9 is almost exactly the same as the SAE 12X28.

Track of the Wolf sells that 12x28 Uberti revolver nipple under part number PCC-A; it's the Treso 11-50-16 nipple.

I had a thought but don't know if it will help you, anyway if they are close enough in size, why not try and get your hands on a Uberti cylinder. It may not take much to fit it to your gun, then you can get nipples most anywhere. Maybe someone here will speak up and let you know if thats possable. LM

I took my 1851 cylinder and inserted it in the gun. Its a tad longer just a vary small amount. but the timing does seem to be on. i just cant put the barrel on as soon as i but the barrel on and try to insert the wedge the barrel is jammed up with the cylinder. Amazingly though i know the pietta 1851 is timed exact. i still want to get the nipples though. I may order a pietta cyliner and shave it down in the future. howeve now that i know i have two asm's that use these nipples i have to get some spares

Snaggletooth. Perfect. i must have called deer creek about 20 times before i got through. The lady was very very nice. She even told me she thinks they are the only ones that carry parts for asm. Said everyone shows the numbers but when you order them they are out. So i ordered 2 packs of 6 that should get me 12. She is also sending me a catalog. Very nice lady answered the phone.

Those folks had a tornado hit their place a couple of months ago and they are getting back to normal..Really nice people. I know their prices are really competative too.The only time Ive ever had a problem is she sent me the wrong screw in a set. I called her and she sent me two at no charge.

When I noticed VTI listing ASM parts last year ..I gave them a try with a small order ...they didn`t have anything in stock I needed ...I called DeerCreek ...and got what I needed .

you could try DGW. I know they are a little more expensive but i do believe they have a large assortment. As for the size you might want to look at the 1862 model colt's nipples i believe they have a small thread and also take # 10 caps. Good luck with your search, let us know how it turns out..

Wow all i can say. Wow i ordered the nipples from Deer Creek on the 9th. Mid morning here. I wasnt expecting those for a few days. Well Yesterday they arrived. 2 days across the country. Those folks are A ok. cost for shipping 12 nipples was $29.00. that includes the shipping. Works to be about 2.00 each. They even sent me a catalog. Highly recomend that place. The nipples were right on the money. Service was very good.
