1860 Colt Army Parts

I have an original 1860 Colt Army that has a broken hammer screw and a broken hand and spring assembly. Does anyone know where to find parts for this gun? Do the replica gun manufacturers sell parts that will interchange with the those from the original firearms?

The hammer from a Uberti will probably work, but the reproduction guns are Italian and use metric screws. Try VTI gun parts for the hammer.

Sorry, I mis-read your post. Try Dixie Gunworks for the original hammer 'screw', and the hand and spring.

Dixie Gun Works in Union City, TN. (www.dixiegunworks.com) has had aftermarket parts for original Colt's since the 1950's.

While you're at it, be sure to buy a copy of their over-700 page print catalog. Lots of good information, and it only costs $5.00. It too hasn't gone up since the '50s.

Note: They also have parts for the popular Italian reproductions, so be sure to look in the right section for "original Colt's parts."

Thank you there Old Fuff and junkman,

I searched the Dixie Gunworks website for a hand and spring assembly and it returned a goose egg. Perhaps I'm not calling this part by its correct name. The part I'm trying to find is a pawl-looking gizmo with an integral small leaf spring. This is the part that engages the cylinder and rotates it when pulling the hammer back. Is "hand and spring assembly" the correct name for this part?

I just looked on the Dixie site and these parts (although reproductions) are made for the original Colt 1860 Army....

Just another question please: what's the difference between a Colt 1860 and a Colt 1860 Army? The reason I ask is because Dixie lists two different part numbers for the parts I need - one p/n for the Colt 1860 and a different one for the Colt 1860 Army.

There is no difference. Please list the part numbers as I am not seeing different part numbers other than the ones I gave you.

Colt 1860 parts:
Screw: SP1513
Hand and spring: TP1605

Colt 1860 Army parts:
Screw: SP1858
Hand and spring: MP 1813

Strange...

This is easily explained, so stay with me....

The part #'s I gave you are reproduction part for an original Colt 1860.
The part #'s you listed are new parts for Italian reproduction 1860 Army pistols.

You have an original 1860 Colt, so you need the parts I listed for you. Farla capisce?

Ok, thanks, I got it now.

The description of both parts used the word "reproduction", so in my haste I thought it meant reproduction parts for both guns. But after reading more closely, I see that there's a key difference. One description refers to a reproduction part and the other description refers to a reproduction gun. Big difference, my mistake, thanks for the clarification!
