Uberti 1861 Navy. handling and usable accuracy is about identical to the 60 armys I've used. stores/internet seem a bit more willing to stock .44 caliber components but appropriate balls and even the Eastern Main treated felt wads can be found. Using those wads, the bore was still un fouled after these too targets. The top target was fired after the 18 rounds belown.

Beautiful revolver!!! Those 1860 style lines are simply incomparable in any other Cap and ball. That's some great shooting at those ranges!! I haven't yet had much experieance with the 36 but am planning on burning a bunch of powder this summer in a 1862 pocket police and a Spiller & Burr replica. I've acquired the requisite supplies to feed my pair. Can't wait to get out to the range.

these replicas usually have nice triggers and that, along with the balance, makes them easier to shoot than a lot of modern handguns.

I have a pair of 1861s, made by Uberti, from the 70s. Possibly my favorite revolvers. Good triggers and better than average accuracy.

These stocks were pretty much standard with the 60 army and a few 61s were set up for them too. Accuracy-wise its a trade off with the stock providing steadiness but reduced eye relief. Accuracy is about what you get with a two-handed hold at full arm length /no stock.

good question. It hits ON for me without the stock and with ball loads. With the stock attached, it shoots a bit low requiring holding up a bit of front sight above the hammer groove. At the time I shot these, Buffalo bullets had a conical .36 on the market that hit 3-4 inches higher than the ball loads. It was right on with the stock attached. But... with the same set up with a .44 Army, the stock didn't make a bit of difference in POI/POA.
