Are there any cartridge conversions for the 1863 .31 caliber "New Model Pocket Revolver", as shown here?

That's a new one, I think. Last month, I believe they only had one for a 49. Or maybe I simply missed this one. (probably so) I remember Jennifer said they were coming out with a few new designs. One of them will be for the 1860 models with a loading gate, but only 5 shot cylinders.

I looked there just last week! Maybe they're actually out now - R&D doesn't list them on the website yet.

Its on the first page of the R&D conversions now. Maybe I just missed it.

But anyway there ya go. 200.00 bucks isn't bad.

I just looked again. Its a 5 shot. darn it...

It seems like if they can make a 6 shooter for a 49 Pocket, they could do the same for this.

See.. you combine safety ideas and add emotional histrionics and suddenly you and I aren't smart enough to be safe, and the ideology of cowards gets crammed down our throats one more time.

I think a 5 shot cartridge revolver of that size with no paperwork would be a dandy.

How large is an 1863 compared to the "1862" (actually a 1861) snub that Cabela's sells?

I'd have to take a look at it. I can imagine that a 62 with a snub barrel is probably a 44. Or it could be a 36 5 shot based on the 62 pocket navy pistol that was different from the police pistol. (or maybe I just don't remember correctly)

If its a pietta, you can use any .36 to .38 conversion kit (for pietta) as they use the same frame as the 51/61. Most of Cabellas' products (repro pistols) are Pietta. That's the scoop from Kirst anyway on the River Junction site.

oh, there it is. They look about the same size to me with the remmies cylinder area being a little bulkier. Its not telling you if its 5 or 6 shot, but as you mentioned it doesn't matter to ya so that's cool.

I remember seeing the pocket and a regular remmie together and the pocket is a small gun. Over all since the 62 has a 51 frame, it is probably longer and the photos at Cabellas don't really show this. It seems like the pictures they take there are relative to fitting in the frame of the camera.

Maybe someone who owns both or who has handled both could tell you more properly than I can. hehehe

I don't really see a snubby there. I see the 62 army police gun, but its barrel length is 8. They probably meant 6 or 5 judging from the picture.

The other ad says the overall length is 11 inches with no reference to barrel length. (Iwas looking at the one with the starter kit)

The 31 is just under 8 inches total and weighs less.

AFAIK the original BP version is 5 shots.

A 5-shot cartridge version is all you can reasonably expect.

Yeow, .32 S&W Short! That'll take you back. Those are mighty short cases, too. Probably have to handload - but not much risk of blowing the thing up even if you fill the case with Bullseye??? (That's humor, not advice!)
