After about 300 rounds through an Uberti 1873 cattleman I had a problem with the cylinder not locking up. Everything looked fine, bolt and bolt trigger spring, until I was able to easily break the bolt spring in half with my my old fingers.
Hunted for a replacement and ended up with a wolf wire type spring. Installed and everything appears fine.
Then I read the package that said the spring was for EMF Hartford and not for Colt or Uberti.
The question would be could this spring do any harm?

If the bolt is locking securely and not allowing the edges of the notches in the cylinder to get peened by the bolt, I don't see how there could be any harm done. The EMF Hartfords were made by Pietta, but it may be close enough.

If you get notches peened or the cylinder over rotates when cocking hard and fast, get a different spring.

"if it fits, it ships"

as long as it fits, and does what it's supposed to do, I don't see how it could be a problem of any kind. I"ve swapped out bolt springs in the past, with no regard what they came out of, not a problem as long as the fit and engage properly.

The EMF wire spring was a real pain to install. Had to push hard against the spring while turning the screw. I found the proper spring on, of all places, eBay. Installed easily, now I have a spare.
Thanks
