Hey folks,

Much to my dismay... a small piece of metal, perhaps a leaf spring, fell out of my uberti hombre cattleman 1873. The hammer seems to function, but it won't lockup turning it clockwise. Counterclockwise does still lockup. What part is this? How hard will it be to fix? Will it require much fitting? I've worked on S&Ws and 1911s a fair amount, but haven't detail striped an 1873 before.

Thanks!

I'll second the wire spring from Wolf. You only need to get the trigger guard off, and you'll see right away that the flat spring is missing one of it's "legs." It's a three-minutes job.

Boy, I thought I was pretty good at working on a SAA type, but three minutes to replace a trigger/bolt spring? Wow!

It goes a lot faster if the screw slots and holes in the grip frame are already all wallowed out from a junque drawer screwdriver.

You don't have to waste all that time finding a screwdriver tip that fits, and being careful!

LOL, made that mistake once... Fortunately only the screw suffered... Now I know better!
