I have a 1885 low wall chambered in 25-20 single shot. I believe the tang sight that is on it is a Lyman #1. It is not threaded for eye cups and has a fairly large hole. I don't feel like I'm getting the consistency I would like with the sight alignment (although I'm shooting pretty good groups, I feel like I could do better with better sights). I'm debating about whether to put a different tang sight on the rifle that will accept different eye cups VS changing the front sight to a beech style like the MVA combination front sight. I may end up changing both, but wanted some opinions on which to try first, front sight or rear tang.

Has your Lyman lost its little "turn down" aperture?
I went from a Lyman to a Shaver Economy Soule to a Baldwin, improving the sighting at every step.

I don't see much advantage to the Beach combination, if you want a globe front sight, get a real globe with a variety of inserts to suit the target.

Hey, it's not MY money.

Have you considered Skinner sights? I am not sure whether they have something specifically made for your Winchester, but they sure have a lot. They didn't have a specific one for my Henry, but I found something from them that did work.
