Looking for some help.
I have a 1921 Winchester 1894 SN 900982 and am trying to disassemble it and restore the stock and do some detail cleaning.
I have disassembled the receiver using a Model 91 plan which worked fine but removing the tubular magazine and for grip has proved to be perplexing and I can’t find instructions on the internet. It is completely different than the model 94 pre or post 1964.

I have removed the screw at the bottom of the magazine toward the end of the barrel, I cannot get the end cap to unscrew but I am working on it. I removed the pin in the dovetail about 4 inches down from the barrel end and removed the screws holding on the clamp at the end of the fore grip.

Which way do I move the magazine out and how do I remove the hand guard?
Any one have instructions for disassembly?
I have pictures but the files are too big for this system.

HELP.

Paul.

Magazine tube and forearm disassembly, rifles: (pre-64)
Remove the magazine plug screw (#11994) from the very bottom front of the magazine tube (#13393), the magazine tube cap (#11394) is now loose and may be pulled out the front of the magazine tube along with the magazine spring (#11294) and the magazine follower (#5764). Remove the two forend tip (cap) screws (ni), one on each side of the forearm cap (ni) and slide the forearm cap forward slightly. Drift out the magazine ring pin (ni) from the magazine ring (ni) and pull the magazine tube (#13393) out toward the front, once the tube is clear of the forearm wood (#7194), the forearm wood may be tilted down and pulled off the rifle. The magazine is then turned toward either side of the rifle 1/4 turn, this frees the magazine ring from its dovetail cut in the bottom of the barrel.

Geez, I hope you have a rifle, 'cause the carbine instructions are a little different:banghead:

Got it thanks

A lot of rust and corrosion on the plug made it difficult to remove.
Used pliers and taped it out. The slot on the end made me think it was a screw out.
Appreciate the help

That slot in the magazine plug is for alignment; the plug just pulls out. (Actually, it will usually jump out and fly off into a dark corner, but that is another story.)
