I've only had this Marlin 1894C for about a month or so, and doing a moderate amount of shooting with it.

During loading, I'm seeing some hangups with the loading gate and when the magazine tube is empty, the loading gate just kinda hangs down at a slight angle - I can correct it by pressing up on the small transfer bar that sticks out in front of the trigger, but is this normal? Did I bend it when trying to load it, or is this pretty much normal wear and tear? I'll try to post some pics later today.

I think I know what you are trying to describe.

The screw just behind the loading gate might be loose. This is the screw that holds the gate against the receiver.

that'll teach me.....

thanks guys - should have checked that first. I'll learn one of these days....

perfect fix - I should really learn to stop and take the obvious way out.
