Saw a for sale ad the other day at Sixgunner.com, guy had a 1903A3 for sale for $100. Yeah, I know, if it looks too good to be true it probably isn't but I had to find out.
Finally got an email reply tonight, it said:
"Sorry man. Uncle wanted it back. Thanks anyway. "
Imagine that.
So what do you think the whole story is?? :scrutiny:

Hard to say. It was probably sporterized, to start. Maybe it was in poor condition. Maybe just a case of "I got this old '06", and he really didn't think it was worth much.

Ad just said "Excellent Condition"
Wonder if uncle gave guy rifle, uncle finds out guy is going to sell it for $100 and said "I don't think so!"

Knowing the going prices on 'decent' 1903A3s I'd say there is something terribly wrong with a $100 one.

Sounds like a parts rifle to me.

I could be wrong and the guy doesn't know what he has or just wants to off it but $100 sure raises my eyebrows.

May have been one of the National Ordinance commercial cast receivers. Not bad shooters, but not close to a real 03A3.

I would guess the uncle gave him the rifle and this guy thought it was an old piece of junk with no way to mount a scope and one of those old fashioned wooden stocks.
Classic case of stepping over a dime to pick up a nickel.

Remember... 15 years ago $100 was all they were worth. The guy probably just didn't know.

I bought an 03A3 complete with bayonet about 15 years ago for $85. I recently gave it to a friend who built my deck for me. He shot a 30 round group with it that stayed under 2". :what:
