I asked this very question in a reply to a post that I had written a little while back but I dont think anyone saw it so I will ask again.

I have a 1903a3 that has been sporterized (very nicely) but it has a Nazi (marks intact) K98 floorplate, follower, and spring. I just bought a correct floorplate unit along with a follower and spring but now I have another question. The follower works in the K98 floorplate unit and since the gun has a K98 floorplate will it work to but the 1903a3 with the K98 floorplate unit into a K98 designed after market stock? The current stock appears to be for a K98 but again im not positive. Function of the gun with the K98 parts is perfect.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

The guy who sporterized it didn't like the stamped sheet-metal magazine the 03A3 came with. So he replaced it with a modified K-98, instead of rustling up a milled steel 03 guard.

Now that the stock is inletted to fit the modified K-98 trigger guard, an 03 trigger-guard will not likely fit the stock without modification.

Ok I guess I didnt mention that Im wanting to put the whole unit into a Hogue stock, and the 1903a3 isnt an option for them. Here is a picture of what I have right now.

Well, I don't know what to tell you then.

If they don't make an 03 Springfield stock, the barreled action isn't going to fit a 98 Mauser stock without some whittling.

How the 98 trigger-guard fits into the equation is a mystery, as I think it had to have been modified at least a little to fit the Springfield action.
