Ok, who knows about Natl ORD 1903A3's. Are they worth anything. Where do they come from? I've owned all kinds of 03's but not one of those. I have an opportunity to get one for $300 bucks that I could restore to original. Wuddahya think?

Not worth much. They did use some surplus parts slapped into a worthless receiver of questionable material and poor quality. Do a Google search on National Ordinance 1903s and you'll get to read a lot of horror stories.

If you wanted to salvage some of the parts off of it, and you could inspect those parts in person before hand, and it was close to free, it might be worth it. I sure wouldn't part with $300 for one.

I have one that I bought for $250 several years ago. It shoots better offhand than almost any rifle I have but it's worth less than nothing. It's a GREAT looking shooter in 30.06, which ain't bad for a $ deuce and a half.

Do a quick Google search of National Ordnance and you'll get the stuff on them.

I found this online which sums it up:

Can you please give me a short biography of National Ordnance 1903A3s. I recently picked one up at a gun show ser.# 7239****. Are there reliability problems or other shortfalls compared to higher priced Remington 1903s of the same era? thank you Darren

Answer:
Darren, the reason that National Ordnance 1903A3's are cheaper is because they are not US government issue rifles. National Ordnance 1903A3 receivers were made in Yugoslavia and/or Spain during the late 50's and mid 60's, then the rifles were assembled with surplus GI parts... Marc
