Alright after much surfing and several attempts at using the search function here, I am no more enlightened than I was to begin with.

I just ordered an M1A, and would love to have a leather sling for it. Unfortunately I have no idea whether to get a 1907 or 1917 sling, or even what the difference is between the two. Everywhere I look I see contradicting info regarding them, and often see the same sling being called a 1907 on one site and a 1917 on another. Are they the same sling with two different designations, or are they different?

More importantly (if they're different), how do I tell them apart, and which one do I need for my M1A?

Here is a link to Turner Slings. They make excellent slings, and I use their 1907's on my hunting rifles, my M1A, my M1 garands, and my Remington 1903 Springfields.
Thanks.
So from your post and looking at Turner's website, the 1907 will work for sure then.

What about the 1917 sling? Is that a "go" or "no go"?

Reason I am asking is there's a used rifle at the gun shop with either a 1917 or a 1907 sling on it. I obviously can't tell which it is, but if it'll work on my M1A I can probably get him to sell the sling.
