I have just purchased a 5-1909 built Webley mk 4 in great shape less bluing. It has been chemically stripped to the bare metal likely in prep for plating there is 0 bluing left on this piece at all not even internals. I would like to refinish it as it is turning brown/rust daily I would like to poly coat it clear as to preserve the ordinal markings it is an interesting piece the initial markings are for the Duke of Wellingtons West Riding Regiment Royal Engineers that has been crossed out and the remainder of the markings are very worn as to unreadable. Please help I don't want to blue it or plate it I figure some sort of clear coat to keep it as protected as possible with out killing the markings. What can I do?
