I Read an older thread on GSG 1911-22s. I would like to comment on the GSG 1911-22. It is a German made gun. I have one GSG pistol and one GSG 1911-22 conversion kit on a 1911 frame I assembled from spare parts. I also have
a Umarex 1911-22, and a couple of Kimber conversions on home built frames.
The GSG 1911-22 is a shooter! I use CCI's AR Tactical .22 long rifle, 40 gr copper plated in all of these guns. This is because I get no FTFs, stovepipes or FTEs.
My GSG 1911-22 will also eat Federal value pack ammo from Wally World.
The other .22s occasionally have a problem with federal or Remington.
I forgot to mention, I also have a Chiappa "Puma" 1911-22. It wound up being a "Safe Queen" that is all I will say about it.

I say mine was a total POS and sending it back to Chiappa was a waste of my time and $60 shipping (so much for their warranty) -- came back if anything worse. Its totally dead now, the "insert" in the hammer came out and went flying, now there is a big hole in the hammer where it should hit the firing pin.

I keep it on a shelf as a bad example and hope it servers as thief bait!

My GSG hasn't been flawless, but it's made me happy. At some point I need to get a cheap flat MSH for it.

I definitely like it a lot more than the Chiappa 1911-22s, they never impressed me at all.

What is your overall opinion on the Colt/Umarex? I have been quite pleased with mine

+1 on the GSG indeed. Given the fact that I am increasingly broke this time of the year with taxes, holidays, etc., I can still shoot a "1911" absent breaking the bank.

My Umarex so far has performed flawlessly. Aside from the
excess and oversized print on the slide, (Looks cheap) I am
happy with it.

Wally, my Puma also lost the insert out of the hammer. Sent it back for
the steel upgrade, and when it came back it would only fire every third or fourth time. Needs a new firing pin I guess, but I cannot get in touch with their parts department. It presently is "Ballast" in my safe.

I purchased a GSG from the classifieds on another forum. When it arrived It looked "well used", but I had not paid much ($200) and so I was not expecting much. I've been pleasantly surprised, aside from a stripped hex screw on the front sight it has worked very well. I've tried about 7-8 varieties of ammo and It's been reliable, It's reasonably accurate. It's too light to accurately mimic the 1911 but and the size and shape represents the 1911 well.

My curiosity about 1911-22's has been satisfied. I'll shoot my S&W 41 and High Standard pistols more, but my daughter (who shoots a 1911-.45) likes the light weight GSG so I'll keep it.

What ever knockw your socks off. I just wanted to
put in my two cents worth. I bet your daughter likes the cheaper
price of .22s compared to her 1911 .45.
I also have a High Standard 1911 .45, and it is a shooter.
Along with a Ruger SR1911 .45, in all I have 11 1911 pistols of
various calibers. 7 of them 1911-22s. I shoot for fun.

The only firearm I bought that I re-sold without firing a shot....
