1911 .38 super to 9mm conversion

I may have a chance to pick up a Taurus pt1911 in .38 super for a good price. However, I dont shoot .38 super. How hard would it be to convert it too a 9mm? Is there a semi-drop barrel I could get that would allow me to do some fitting and have the gun be reliable? I know that I will need mags as well.

A barrel and a magazine (meg-gar mags are good and inexpensive), and maybe a matching bushing (not all bushings fit all barrels). In my gun, I also put in a 14 pound spring (I think the .38 super is 16#), but you may even get it to work well with the .38 super spring. The extractor needs no adjustment for most of the conversions.

A barrel, and maybe a mag, and your good to go. 9MM may or may not feed from your .38 Super mag.

So on a Taurus a barrel swap w/ matching bushing and you are in buisness?

As mentioned, you may or may not need a mag. You may also have to tune the extractor. 38S has a larger rim diameter, so the tension may be off. Easy process. Worst case is filing a little bit off the pad behind the hook to allow the extractor to move inward, closer to the round.
