Need a 1911 to round out my collection. Would like to find something that carries well IWB for under $700. Any suggestions? Thanks...

I just bought a Charles Daly EFS and couldn't be happier. Alot of folks say they're not so good, but for the price ($525) I think I did pretty well. For the record, I paid more than usual for mine, since I'm in Maryland and we seem to pay more for all our guns.

Or, maybe have a look at Rock Island Armory. Same parent company as Charles Daly, but the Rock Islands are more of the "GI" style, whereas the Charles Daly's are a bit more high-end.

Springfield Loaded.

The Good belt and holster are what make ANY gun carry well.
(Although the flatness, and lines of the 1911 help)

For a really good 1911 that won't break the bank, the Springfield Mil-Spec is one of the best buys out there.

Bud's Gun Shop finally has the CZ/Dan Wesson Commander Bobtail in stock for a little over $800. I had to restrain myself from buying one today, in fact.

Stainless steel, commander-length single-stack, checkering on the frontstrap, and an Ed Brown bobtail for concealed-carry.

Sorry, didn't notice the $700 upper limit.

You can get a new Colt Commander for $650 at gun shows - that would be my choice. All steel, pretty decent sights, and a good place to start modifying if you ever choose to do so.

I'm in the same boat as you.

I've narrowed it down to a parkerized Springfield Armory Mil-Spec. They run about $500 - $550 NIB. The WWII GI Model is even less expensive (about $450 - $500), but it does not have a lowered and flared ejection port - a good feature for a reloader who doesn't want dinged brass. The Loaded model is another option, one step above the Mil-Spec I'm looking at.

A good gun belt and IWB holster are essential. I'm leaning towards a Milt Sparks VM2, but haven't decided for sure and I have no idea about the belt. Perhaps others can suggest rigs along with 1911s for us 1911 Noobs  .

I like the Kimber Ultra Carry II.
