1911 compatibility question

Simple one: can you use a Series 80 slide on a Series 70 frame?

I've got no experience with the Series 80 mechanism other than a Para I owned for a very short time a few years ago.

Any advice appreciated.

I would say likely If you removed the firing pin block from the 80 series slide.

I was told in my class that to make a series 80 a series 70, you simply removed the parts from the slide and place a frame filler in the frame where the series 80 parts went. By that reasoning, if you remove the firing pin stop from the slide, it should be fully compatible with a series 70 frame.
