Ok here it is, i have been looking through old post and haven't found one quite like this yes there are lots that ask which 1911 but none that compare what i am looking at. I recently acquired my concealed weapons license and i want a pistol that will conceal easy and is a 1911

Here is what i want:
- 1100 dollar Limit
- Commander Length Slide
- Officer Sized Frame
- Must be reliable out of the box
- Must run HP's
- Right at or under 30 oz.
- Ambi Safety
- Night Sights
- Front Strap Checkering

Tall order i know. They only gun that i have found that meets this would be the Kimber CDP II compact. Problems, right at the top of my budget and i am not fond of Kimbers for reliability; as i had a Custom II with external extractor that was a piece of ______. I know they have switched back to internal but i still hear of problems.

Why are there so few manufactures that make a commander length slide with a Officer Sized Frame? To me that is the perfect 1911 for carry. 4" reliability with officer size conceal ability...

Hum..You might have to find one close to what you want and send it to a great smith to build what you really want. Expensive YES! Long wait for a great smith YES!

Sig GSR C3

The 1911 C3 is a 6+1 compact .45ACP featuring rosewood custom wood grips and is available in a Two-Tone finish. Weighing in at just under 30 ounces unloaded, each 1911 C3 is machined to exacting tolerances and hand-fitted to insure reliability and performance. The C3 frame is machined from a lightweight alloy and includes 25-line per inch front strap checkering and checkered mainspring housing. SIG SAUER® uses only premium internal parts such as a match grade barrel, hammer/sear set and trigger. The C3 is also available in a durable Nitron® finish.

Everything but the front serrations and Ambi safety for under $900

+1 on the Sig Revolution C3. Doesn't have the ambi-safety but it can be added. I also query why you want unless you are left handed.

Get a Springfield Champion and have the Custom Shop work on it for you. May not have everything you are looking for, but it's pretty close.

I'll agree on the Sig C3

I have the first generation gun with the manhole cover - It was not totally reliable out of the box, but after the obligatory 500-750 round break in, it smoothed out and I now carry it daily.

Hey everybody, first time caller long time listener.

With the 1911, it doesn't matter what you buy first, it will not beyour last 1911. 1911's are a disease that there is thankfully no cure for.

I would recommend trying a bunch, and going with what you like and can trust. I would also recommend an internal extractor, rather than an external.

As far as HP ammo, my springfield hates hydrashock, but eats up and spits out every other HP I feed it, so if one doesn't work try another.

That's instantly what my mind jumped to reading your list. I really want a Custom C.D.P.- that's "Custom Custom Defense Package" (I.E. 2 customs, pwnd).

Seriously though, they really switched back to internal extractors? When did this happen, or is it only certain models? Sorry I was 0 help, good luck and let us know how it turns out!
