I am certainly sorry that I misunderstood the question! Please accept my most humble appologies. I thought that someone wanted to know about what punches to aquire for some 1911 takedown work and all I said was what I liked. I missed the part about the "Detail Stripping". I do hope you can all forgive me. The next thing I know, you will be wanting me to do that "Detail Stripping Stuff!" with out anything but the gun parts! WOE Is Me!

Hijack Attack!

oooooooooo-KAY! While this one is still a foot or two above the Low Road,
I'm gonna call it past salvaging, and close it.

Bosshoff...Your original question was valid, and the answer is that the gun can be completely stripped and reassembled without tools, unless it's been
changed too much from its original design. You can go spend 35 dollars on a set of good punches for the task if you wish, but an M-16/AR-15 firing pin will serve you just as well for 6 bucks from Brownells...or 4 or 5 at a gun show. A ten-penny nail will also work at a cost of 10 for a penny. Your call.

This one's closed. It's gone from a thread to a circus.
