LA....Lower Alabama, I think. The tinfoil confuses
I have a mil-spec Springer 1911 from the early 90's. I did not pay much at all for it a few years ago. I have several other 1911's that in comparison put it to shame. I really want to update it some; ie trigger, sights, mainspring and grip safety.
I have a lot of experience building AR's and other minor Gunsmithing, as well as various mechanical things. I have never done any work on a 1911. I know the sights will have to be done by a smith due to having to cut the slide. The mainspring seems to a drop in swap. My concern is the trigger and grip safety.
I really don't want to pay to have it done when I think I can do it and if I screw it up I'm really not out much. I plan on cerakoting it when I'm done.
Should I give it a shot?
