I'll let you know ;)
I love my RIA 45 but I feel like the ejected casing is coming close to being as dangerous as the bullet flying down range. How can I get the ejector to stop throwing everything so far and fast. I wouldnt trust anybody elses advice but y'alls.

Loading too hot or weak recoil spring is my guess, but others here are more knowledgable and will probably have the answer for you shortly.:)

I would go along with the recoil spring also. RIA are not known for best springs. Get a new wolff recoil spring and a couple of mag springs also Their cheap and all will need replaced. I sold my RIA as I couldn't stand the guide rod and paper clip tear down. Was a nice pistol except for that.

Put a new 16 pound spring in it, $6-10 well spent whether the gun needs it or not. I think ISMI are the best springs made right now and heads and shoulders above Wolf for what that is worth....

Are you shooting factory or handloads?

Unless he's got one of the just out "tacticals" if its a 5" gun it should be a standard plug and plunger setup. And if the brass is launching into orbit get a stronger spring. 16lbs is standard and functioned well, but as a reloader when the empties start landing in the weeds its time for a replacement. I've a Wolff 18.5 lb spring in mine and it lays the empties in a nice pile about 3' diameter 3' right and 4' back, lose very little brass when shooting it which helps make it a favorite.

If it its the 4" or 3.5" models the brass will fly a lot farther and you'll have to live with it. You can try a stonger spring, but in my experience while it might reduce the distance the empties fly, it seems to randomize the direction making them even harder to find with some percentage even going forward.
If you replace the spring in the 4" or 3.5" models, make sure its not too long and the slide hits the impact surface before all the spring coils touch or you'll break the reverse plug in fairly short order.

If you don't reload I'd not worry about it.
