I had a Millet front and rear sight put on my Series 70 Colt some time ago. This was a mistake in that the front sight is double-staked, but I did not realize that at the time. Now the rear sight has developed a cant which is not a major problem other than looking bad but is something I would like to fix. Millet sights are no longer available and I have been able to find no sight that will replace the Millet and retain the front sight. I have heard of people having one or both holes welded up and the slide refinished, but I don't want to do that unless there is no other option. I suppose if I found another rear sight that is lower, I might have the front sight milled down. Can the Millet rear sights be rebuilt or repaired? Are parts like pivot pin and elevation screw available anywhere? I think the base of the sight is level, but the top part is canted, possibly worn or a bent pivot pin. I don't know how it got that way because I never dropped or knowingly abused it. Maybe those sights are just really fragile and could be a reason why they are no longer made. Any meaningful advice will be appreciated. I am hoping someone has had this same problem and has arrived at a better option.

What does the Millet rear sight look like? Do you have a picture of it, there were several models. Is it the high profile? Low profile? I may have one in my box-o-crap.

This thing is about 0.430 high. The entire thing sits above the slide, requiring no modification to the slide, unlike a bomar that has the slide cut. An aistocrat was suggested but those are for a Gold Cup that has a different slide than a Government. Ill try to get a picture. These were popular at one time and I have seen them on 1911's, hi-powers and others. I'm thinking the pin is bent, and replacing that might fix it. That pin is really small diameter and I probably accidentally bent it in the gun rug. If I ever get it fixed I will get a hard case for it. Thank you for the reply.

Great. I'll wait for the pix. Mine is plain black, but a white outline would be better.

I'll get you a pic of the sight Saturday ASAP. I would have done it today....but today was a monster wave of busy. Parts coming in ....guns going out... I ended up turning off the phone after I closed up shop...turning on the radio...and getting the work done I was SUPPOSED To do today. That is how it goes sometimes. I have to burn some midnight oil to play catch up when the phone and customers chew up my day.

Pictures tomorrow....watch this space.

Cheers
Mac.

I know exactly how that is. I sent some phone camera pictures to your email. Hope they are good enough. If not I will get out my camera and take some better ones. Many thanks. I am off to Knob Creek, so I won't check this again till Monday.

Okay Russ....

Here are your pics. This particular sight has a black blade. I thought I had some with white outline but I guess I used it on a customer's gun.

Have a look and see if this suits you. It is New in Box never installed.

That's it, only thing is it looks like the blade is shorter than mine. I can't make out the number on it, but the number on mine is 410. Looks like I would need to either put my blade in it or mill down my front sight. Looks like maybe the blades are interchangeable. If so, that would be the way to go. Either way it will work. You are the man.

I have one of those rear sights low mounted in my pin gun. I use a regular tenon anchored front sight for that gun.
I do have some extra parts for the rear sight and a total rear sight assembly. Let me know what you need and I'll see what I can find. They aren't as tightly fitted as a BoMar, but good eyes, a steady hand and mechanical aptitude will do you justice.

Since I know I can get some parts, I will go ahead and dissassemble this sight. I'll likely end up needing the complete sight and re-use my blade.

Russ....

The number on this sight is 360. Before you go taking stuff apart I went and looked through my box of Millet sights and found that I have a 410 blade. New in the box with all the clips and spring washers to make the swap. Since it is new in the box it also has the INSTRUCTIONS documentation on how to do the swap!

Here are some pics of the new 410 blade. Since you are looking to get the sight from me...I'll make you a helluva deal on the tall blade. Oh yeah...who's Da Man? :D:D:neener::neener:

OK Mac. Got a MO headed your way unless you can PayPal. This has certainly gone well. Thanks again.
