1911 Overhaulin' - Need Part Suggestions

Greetings all. Well I snagged my new stainless 1911 today, and it's a beautiful thing. 200 rounds later I've come to the conclusion that it's fun to fire, and a pretty reasonable shot. Unfortunately there are already a couple of things I'd like to swap out already, mostly to improve the comfort and feel of the gun. I have a couple years of machining experience, and I plan on picking up the Kuhnhausen manuals before I do any work. Before I can start though, I need to know what parts I should use. So I come to you guys.

I have a Springfield Armory MilSpec 1911 in Stainless. I would like to replace the ILS mainspring housing with a normal one (keeping the arched outsing). I also want a long trigger and a beavertail grip safety. Since the beavertail also requires a commander-style hammer, I guess I should get one of those as well. What brand/models would you recommend I install?

On a related note, does anyone know of a way to get a beavertail with a hammer that doesn't look like the traditional commander hammer? I prefer the style of the spur hammers, but my hand is begging me for a beavertail.

I'm not speakin' from experience...but it's my understanding that Clark's
beavertail grip safety will work with a slightly bobbed spur hammer. It's not as radically upswept as the others, and IMO creates a better-looking profile.
It also maintains the spot-weld provided by the standard safety by taking a slight downsweep close to the tang..and curving back up for web comfort.
It sacrifices some of the high grip position if that's a consideration.

How does it compare to the standard grip safety in terms of the high grip position?

Also, any suggestions on a trigger or MSH?

I own a mil-spec springfield in the standard bluing. I have changed a few parts already and plan to change a few more. The parts that I have gone with have all been Wilson Combat. I put one of their 3.5# match triggers in and love it! I also have a set of rubber wrap around grips which make it easier to hold on to. Chip McCormick also makes some excellent products for the 1911. Check the Brownell's catalog for all the parts. Oh one more thing, I bought one of the Wilson Combat 8 round magazines and won't use anything else. You can PM me if you want more specific info. Good luck!
