I can't seem to find any 0versize grips for a 1911. I've found palm swells, target stocks, and "thin" grips. My hands are not huge, but they are medium+ and I find the standard 1911 grips being so small for my tastes.

Other than custom made, are there any off the shelf oversize 1911 grips?

I have big hands, and the arched mainspring housing is a must. Without it, using a two hand grip, I can barely hit the target, much less shoot groups.

All because of the ammount of space between the backstrap and the bottom of my palm.

I hadn't considered the arched mainspring housing; all my 1911's currently have the straight housing. I'll give this a try. I can see how this would add some girth to the grip.

You NEED these purple tinted Elk stag grips, Schmeky.

We don't know why they're purpleish - maybe the owning Elk liked port wine a lot?

Anyway, they're kind of interesting looking and they are big fat grips, for sure. You'd think you were holding onto a doublestacker.

krs,

Puuueeeee, uh, no thanx :barf: ;) I have found the Pearce Finger groove extensions work very well for me. They slightly fatten up the grip and I prefer the finger grooves too.
