Novak cut is the most common. Bomar will have a large flat area in the back and in front of the dove tail cut as well as a much lower area in the very back. Novak is often only flat in the rear, but can also have a flat spot in the front but the flat spots should be even. A straight dove tail cut won't have flat cuts in front or in back (like the standard GI model.) The primary difference is in cut depth, width and angle. There are other cuts like Kimber cut, Colt cut, Heinie cut and some others.
A picture might help, but most pics of the Loaded 1911 have standard Novak cut rear sight.
