1911 slide stop plunger

I'm having trouble getting a slide stop in and I noticed that the plunger has a couple of nicks burs on it. What kind of sand paper do I need to use to smooth it back out? I can get it in with force or a guitar pick but I think it would pop right in if it was smooth.

Normally, I would use a fine stone or needle file.

But 240 or 320 black Wet or Dry paper used with oil on it will do.
Chuck it in a drill and polish the snot out of it.

On the other hand, they only cost $4.00 for a complete set.
Might be easier to just replace it.
