Hi y'all-- new guy here from Maryland. Picking up a Springfield 1911 Compact model ( not the ultra or micro-- just the plain old "Compact") that I got for $450 in great shape and it shoots great too.... I'm having a hard time finding any info on the gun such as the years Springfield made them, etc....

Does anyone have any experience with the Springfield "Compact" and what do you think?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds interesting. Sounds like my 5" springer, it's part mil spec part GI. Probably from before Springfield designated Ultra vs micro. What barrel does it have? 3"? 3.5" or 4"? How long is the magazine? 6 + 1 or 7 + 1?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's Springfield's 1st attempt at an Officers model. Short stack, 6+1 and 3.5" barrel which is close to the Ultra Compact.

If you ask Springfield they will give you the build date and other information.

I misspoke--- it is actually the 3.5" Ultra-Compact.... I don't know how I missed the "Ultra" part when I put the money down--- guess I was too worried about filling out all the paperwork correctly in the Peoples Republik of Maryland... It looks like the gun was made post 2001 since it has the integral lock in the backstrap... Get to pick her up on Friday....

I love my Springfield V10 uc. enjoy it. great pistol.

Two words of advice.

Stay on top of your recoil spring maint. opinions vary 1k-2k rounds i aim for around 1.5k.

When you take it down to clean it for the first time. If it has the two piece recoil spring guide rod. red loctite the threads on the small rod. red will let you take the guide rod apart in the future to replace your recoil springs when they are ready. If you don't like the idea of loctite make sure you degrease the threads and tighten them down well before you lube it back up so the threads dont have any oil in them. if the rod gets loose it relieves part of the spring tension and you will get fail to feed.

enjoy your new friend.
