Any board members have any experience with the Springfield Micro Compact? Just picked up a SA Micro Compact Bi-Tone Model PX9801L. GREAT fit and finish. Will be at the range on Monday to see if this is my new concealed carry weapon...perfect size for CCW in my opinion. What ammo do you carry with your SA? Holster options?

I've seen 2 guide rods break on these out of the four that I know of. When they broke, the got angled in the pistol locking up the slide so it couldn't be taken off the frame.

BTW, Springfield fixed both guns and they've been OK since but it took 6 weeks! to repair one of them. The other one was (at the time) the off-duty carry gun for an LEO......he was able to talk SA into giving him expedited service....that took them 9 days. He now has a different off duty gun.

Good Luck!

I recently got one of the stainless slide/silver armory kote frame (PX9802L) Micro Compacts.

No major problems so far after a couple hundred rounds. I plan to take it out again this week and put another hundred rounds through it.

Mine seems to be somewhat sensitive about ammo. It really likes PMC, but HATES Winchester White Box.

I have a bi tone model, and overall it has been a good gun so far.

The only problem I have had was that the slide would lock back occassionally before the magazine was empty. This problem was worth with heavy loads, and I have heard it is an occasional problem with 1911.

I fixed it though very easily by using the old Dremel to make a little indention on the slide stop, so the slide stop plunger could make better contact.

No problems at all since then.
